Broughton: Airbus exceeds revised 2025 delivery target despite issues

Airbus delivered 793 aircraft in 2025, exceeding its revised annual target after ramping up handovers in the final days of the year, according to people familiar with the figures cited by Bloomberg.
The European planemaker employs thousands of workers at its Broughton wing-making plant in Flintshire, which plays a key role in supplying all wings for its commercial aircraft programme.
The delivery numbers are preliminary and may change slightly once finalised. The people speaking to Bloomberg asked not to be named because the information is confidential.
Last month Airbus cut its earlier 2025 guidance of around 820 aircraft after a series of issues affecting its best-selling A320 family of jets.
These included a large-scale recall for a software update, followed by the discovery that some fuselage panels did not meet specifications and required additional inspections.
An Airbus spokesperson declined to comment on annual delivery figures, saying audited orders and deliveries would be published after markets close on 12 January.
Aircraft deliveries at Airbus and rival Boeing Co. are closely watched because they are the main source of cash for manufacturers and a key indicator of supply chain stability.
Airbus has faced ongoing challenges in sourcing components, from cabin interiors to engines, leading in some cases to completed aircraft being unable to be handed over on time.
