A55 pursuit ends with driver fleeing across live carriageway near Halkyn

North Wales Police are appealing for witnesses after a pursuit through Northop on Wednesday afternoon ended with a driver running across both live carriageways of the A55 near Halkyn.
Officers from the Roads Crime Unit became involved in a spontaneous pursuit with a grey VW Golf GT at approximately 4.40pm.
The vehicle was being driven dangerously and at excessive speed through the Northop area.
The pursuit ended on the westbound carriageway of the A55 near the Travelodge at Halkyn.
At that point, the driver steered the Golf down the embankment towards the carriageway, got out of the vehicle and ran across both live lanes of traffic before heading into nearby fields.
A police helicopter was spotted over the scene, and a force dog unit was deployed to the area.
A lane on the A55 was blocked as officers dealt with the incident, causing tailbacks on the westbound carriageway.
PC 3718 Jackson is appealing for anyone who witnessed the pursuit, or anyone who has dashcam footage of the incident, to come forward.
