18 weeks of road safety improvements at two Ewloe roundabouts to begin

A four-month programme of active travel and road safety improvements at two roundabouts in Ewloe is set to begin later this month.
The £900,000 scheme will see new pedestrian crossings installed on the slip roads at Ewloe Roundabout, along with additional crossings at St David’s Roundabout, improving safety and accessibility for people walking in the area.
Footways will also be widened and resurfaced to create more space for pedestrians and cyclists.
The project, developed with the North and Mid Wales Trunk Road Agent (NMWTRA), has been part funded through the Welsh Government’s Active Travel Fund.
Work is scheduled to begin on 25 January 2026 and continue until May 2026, lasting around 18 weeks in total.
During construction, traffic management will be in place to ensure safety for drivers, pedestrians, and workers. Flintshire County Council has warned that some delays are expected and has urged road users to plan journeys in advance.
Councillor Glyn Banks, Cabinet Member for Waste and Transportation, said:
“This scheme represents an important investment in active travel and pedestrian safety at these busy roundabouts in Ewloe.
“We know the works will cause some short-term inconvenience, and we thank everyone for their patience while these long-term improvements are delivered.”
Further updates will be issued as work progresses.
