Trains cancelled, schools and colleges closed – today’s weather related updates.

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
Hundreds of kids will enjoy another ‘snow day’ in Flintshire today as 84 of the counties schools have taken the decision not to open following last night’s snowfall.
There are two active yellow weather warnings in place for Flintshire throughout today with further snow showers forecast and a risk of ice on roads and paths.
Temperatures are a little less cold today than previous days though the windchill or ‘feels like’ temperature is still around -7ºC.
Coleg Cambria has closed all their sites due to the adverse weather as has Deeside sixth form centre.
Arriva Trains Wales has binned off most of their services in the South of Wales which took a heavy hit from Storm Emma, services on the Wrexham to Bidston line have been reduced – more here.
Main roads through Deeside have been heavily treated are there are no reported issues, some sides roads remain very icey.

Weather warnings still coming thick and fast – latest one is for ice in Flintshire.

Shotton Lane which is very icy but not used by many people.
Chief Forecaster’s assessment.
‘Freezing rain will remain a risk until early afternoon, leading to very icy surfaces in places. Snow amounts will be generally smaller than seen on recent days but a further 2-5 cm is likely in a few locations, most likely this afternoon and evening across Wales, the Midlands and East Anglia. Up to 10 cm is possible in a few spots, especially east Wales.’[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/6″][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/6″][vc_column_text]10.40

However Estelle Hitchon – Director of the Welsh Ambulance Service is less than impressed with SKY NEWS this morning:
So @SkyNews. You think it’s ok to doorstep @WelshAmbulance staff who have battled into work to serve the public. Here’s some breaking news for you. It’s not. Appreciate you have a job to do and we are usually happy to support but those tactics are unhelpful.
