gap Connah’s Quay have announced that Roger Speed has been appointed Honorary Club Patron.

Roger, the father of former Wales, Everton and Leeds star Gary Speed, was announced as The Nomads’ new Patron at Tuesday’s Gary Speed Memorial Golf Day held at Carden Park Hotel.

The announcement was made in front of a crowd which included names such as Michael Owen, Robbie Savage, Kevin Davies and Jussi Jaaskelainen, as former team mates of Gary’s paid tribute to the former Wales Manager, raising a great deal of money in aid of the Gary Speed Trust Fund, which pumps it’s money back in to grass roots football.

Roger attended a number of The Nomads’ games during the 2014-15 season, presenting Sean Miller with a Man of the Match award following the televised match against Prestatyn Town in November last year (pictured above).
