Male pedestrian hit by a van in Broughton on Saturday night has sadly died

North Wales Police have said the man who was struck by a van on Saturday evening in Broughton has sadly died.

The accident happened near to the junction of Queensway and the A5104 Main Road in Broughton just after 9.30pm on Saturday evening when a Ford Transit panel van collided with a male.

The road was closed for nearly four hours from the Airbus roundabout along the A5104 to the roundabout near junction 35 of the A55.

Diversions were set up as as emergency services dealt with the incident.

The man was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital by ambulance, he died during the early hours of this morning – Monday, January 9th.

Sergeant Emlyn Hughes from North Wales Police’ Roads Policing Unit said:

Our thoughts remain with the man’s family at this time and they are now being supported by a Family Liaison Officer.

We would like to speak to anyone who may have been within the area at the time and witnessed the collision, or to anybody who may have seen the pedestrian or van prior to the incident, to contact us.”

The road re-opened at 01:30 on Sunday, January 8th.

Anybody with information is asked to contact the Roads Policing Unit on 101, quoting reference number RC17003174.

A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said;

We were called at about 9.35pm on Saturday 7th January to reports that a pedestrian had been hit by a car in Broughton.

We sent a paramedic in a rapid response vehicle and a crew in an emergency ambulance to the scene and a man was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital with serious injuries
