North Wales eye care team raises £440 for dementia charity

A North Wales domiciliary eye care team has raised £440 for Alzheimer’s Society after hosting a community bingo night in Holywell.
The Specsavers Clwyd and Snowdonia Home Visits team welcomed almost 50 people to Halkyn Cricket Club for the fundraising event.
Guests took part in a programme of bingo games and prize draws, with money raised going to the charity. Organisers said the evening also helped start conversations about dementia and support available in the local area.
The team provides eye care to patients in their own homes, including people living with dementia. Alzheimer’s Society was chosen as the focus of the fundraiser because of the regular contact staff have with patients affected by the condition.
Abbey Hughes, office supervisor and organiser of the event, said: “It was such a fantastic night from start to finish. The support from the local community really exceeded our expectations and the atmosphere in the room said it all.
“We’re incredibly proud to have such vital funds for a cause that connects so closely to the people we care for every day. A big thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a success.”
Prizes including high street vouchers were donated by the team, alongside contributions from local businesses including Apollo Bingo Rhyl, The Craft Shack, Flowers by Anne, Hair by Sarah, Waffle Box, The Gathering, Spavens and Hungry Cow.
