Liverpool Philharmonic unveils Christmas 2025 programme

Liverpool Philharmonic has announced a full programme of events for Christmas 2025, promising something for all ages and tastes.
Described as “Christmas all wrapped up”, the festive season at the Philharmonic includes performances by world-class musicians, comedians, drag artists and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra (RLPO).
Highlights include Christmas Gaiety: A Fabulous Festive Extravaganza featuring drag stars Peaches Christ, Baga Chipz, Ginger Johnson, Kyran Thrax and Le Gateau Chocolat alongside West End performer Kerry Ellis and conductor Edwin Outwater on 13 December.
The RLPO’s December line-up includes conductor Lawrence Foster presenting Tchaikovsky’s Winter Daydreams on 4 December, and the return of the Spirit of Christmas concerts from 19–23 December. Handel’s Messiah will follow on 10 January, while organist Ian Tracey performs a lunchtime recital of festive music on 22 December.
Families can join Santa’s Christmas Party on 20 and 21 December, with seasonal singalongs led by conductor Ellie Slorach and presenter Alasdair Malloy. Film fans can enjoy live orchestral screenings of Jurassic Park on 28 and 29 December, with John Williams’ score performed by the RLPO.
Elsewhere, Boogie Wonderland on New Year’s Eve will see conductor Alfonso Casado Trigo lead a disco-themed concert, with audience members raising a glass of fizz to welcome 2026.
In the Philharmonic Hall, Liverpool singer Rebecca Ferguson performs on 6 December with a mix of Christmas classics and her own hits. Ferguson said:
“Christmas is definitely my favourite time of the year – I just love everything about it and performing around this time is extra special. You can’t beat a Liverpool crowd, we know how to have a good party and I hope everyone can get into the festive spirit and then have a good old dance!”
Comedian Rob Brydon brings his Christmas show to the Hall on 11 December, and a festive comedy night on 17 December will feature Lucy Beaumont, Simon Amstell, Phil Wang, Sharon Wanjohi and Sarah Keyworth as host.
Classic Christmas films will also return to the big screen, with Love Actually in Concert on 1 December, It’s a Wonderful Life on 21 and 24 December, and The Muppet Christmas Carol on Christmas Eve.
In the Music Room, local artists Astles and Abby Meysenburg open the season on 3 December with their annual Christmas show, joined by the Balloon Moon Orchestra. Folk favourites A Winter Union (7 December), The Albion Christmas Show (11 December) and Baked a la Ska (date TBC) will bring a mix of festive folk, ska and storytelling to the intimate venue.
