Flintshire police warn Ford Fiesta owners of targeted thefts

Police in Flintshire have issued a warning to Ford Fiesta owners, particularly those with ST models, following a rise in targeted car thefts.
PC Shannen Finnerty of North Wales Police took to social media to highlight the issue, noting that advances in theft tactics and changes in the car’s production have made the popular vehicle a prime target for thieves across the UK.
“These thefts are happening nationally, and we’ve seen incidents within Flintshire North,” said PC Finnerty.
“We urge owners to use steering wheel locks, faraday boxes for their keys, and ensure trackers are activated and operational.”
To prevent further thefts, police are conducting increased vehicle stops in the area, focusing on Ford Fiesta models.
While this may cause temporary inconvenience to some drivers, officers emphasise the importance of these checks in identifying and recovering stolen vehicles.
“We noted a similar trend with Navara vehicles in the past and took similar measures,” PC Finnerty added.
The police have chosen not to disclose specific details about the tactics used by thieves to avoid inadvertently encouraging criminal activity.
However, they stressed the importance of robust security measures to deter opportunistic thefts.
Residents are encouraged to share the warning to raise awareness and help protect fellow vehicle owners.
