Flintshire ‘Best Kept Communities’ – Merit for Quaystone Chapel Garden, Connah’s Quay
Quaystone Chapel Garden, Connah’s Quay has been awarded a certificate of merit in the 2016 Flintshire ‘Best Kept Communities’ awards.
Winners of each category of the Best Kept Communities received prizes at an awards ceremony held at County Hall recently.
The winner for the best kept village with a population of under 1000 was Llanfynydd with Bretton Lane in second place. Llanasa was awarded third prize.
Caerwys was the winner of the best kept community with a population of over 1000 and under 5000, with Higher Kinnerton winning won second prize. Northop came third.

Mynydd Isa was the winner of the best kept town centre, Holywell came second, and third prize went to Mold.
The best kept senior citizens’ estate was won by Meadow Rise, Penyffordd, with second prize going to Heol y Dderwen, Leeswood. Ffordd Northop came third and a certificate of merit is awarded to Bennetts Lane, Higher Kinnerton.
The competition is only possible because of the people who enter it and because of the sponsors, who this year are Airbus, Clwyd Alyn Housing Association, Grŵp Cynefin, Tesco, Toyota and Warwick Chemicals. We are very grateful for their continued support.”
The judges spent four days visiting the communities which had entered the competition and were particularly impressed with the work which had gone into creating school gardens. Prizes were £100 for first, £75 for second and £50 for third.

Second prize: Swinchiard Brook, Flint
Third prize: Leadmills Wildlife Area, Mold
