News and Info from Deeside, Flintshire, North Wales

The draw for this summer’s UEFA European Under-19 Championship in north Wales has taken place at Wrexham University, confirming the eight nations competing in the tournament.

Croatia, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Serbia, Spain and Ukraine will join hosts Wales across four venues from 28 June to 11 July.

Games will be played at the Racecourse Ground in Wrexham, Bangor City Stadium, The Oval in Caernarfon and Central Park in Denbigh.

Wrexham will stage five matches, including the final.

The eight teams will compete in two groups of four, with the top two in each section advancing to the semi-finals.

The tournament will also serve as UEFA’s qualifying event for the 2027 FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.

Wrexham University has been announced as an official partner of the championship.

Professor Joe Yates, Vice-Chancellor of Wrexham University, said: “We are proud to support the FAW and UEFA Under-19 European Championship and to welcome Europe’s future footballing stars to North Wales.

“This tournament aligns strongly with our Wrexham2030 vision — using education, sport and partnership to drive opportunity, aspiration and inclusive growth for our region.
“Major events like this not only inspire young people but also showcase North Wales on the international stage.”

Jack Rea, FAW Commercial Manager for the European Under-19 Championship Wales, said: “We are delighted to welcome Wrexham University as an Official Partner of UEFA EURO U19 Wales.

“Wrexham University’s ambitious plans for the future of education in North Wales perfectly align with our ambition to celebrate the Future Of Football this Summer across the region, inspiring our communities and leaving a legacy for the next generation.”

The university said the tournament would create opportunities for students studying sports-related degrees to gain experience working at a major international event.
