Driver arrested after fleeing Flintshire traffic stop while officer tried to remove him from vehicle

A driver has been arrested and charged after fleeing a traffic stop in north Flintshire on Saturday night while a police officer was attempting to get him out of the vehicle.
Officers from Rota 3 carried out the stop, during which the driver initially complied before driving away.
The man has since been charged with failing to stop, failing to provide a preliminary breath specimen, careless driving and assaulting a police officer.
North Wales Police said the incident was kept out of the force’s morning report to avoid alerting the suspect, who was not found on Saturday night.
North Wales Police said: “This was an incredibly dangerous situation and we’re relieved to report everyone’s ok.”
The force added: “Officers get out there everyday to keep our communities safe and do so knowing they may be at risk, we will always deal robustly with those who put them in danger.”
The incident came on the same weekend that a police community support officer was assaulted on the High Street in Flint on Friday night while other officers were dealing with multiple simultaneous emergencies across north Flintshire.
North Wales Police said response teams and neighbourhood officers were attending several incidents at the same time, including domestic violence, other assaults and a person in cardiac arrest, when a further call came in from the High Street.
The PCSO, who was nearby, attended alone and was assaulted before other officers reached the scene.
Members of the public intervened until police arrived and the offender was arrested.
North Wales Police said: “Officers arriving, we got some grief because the PCSO was on her own, and rightly so, nobody is more upset than us that our colleague was hurt and that we weren’t able to get there quick enough.”
The force added: “Charges will be sought and we hope to see some justice served not just for our colleague but for members of the public who are aware of this offender and the demand they have caused.”
Anyone who witnessed the High Street incident is asked to contact North Wales Police quoting reference O054503.
