Local MP, Mark Tami met with officials from HSBC Bank today to raise concerns over their decision to close branches in Flintshire.

HSBC said in August it will close three branches in Flintshire area, Ewloe, Flint and Caergwrle.

The branch on St Davids Park Ewloe will close on Friday 11 November with accounts currently held at the branch transferred to HSBC on Chester Road West in Shotton.

The move by HSBC came only weeks after Lloyds Bank shut the doors on its Hawarden branch for the final time leaving many residents angry.

Mr Tami was joined Flintshire County Cllr for Caergwrle David Healey (pictured above right) today to raised concerns about the proposed closures with HSBC’s Area Director, Martin Lyons, and branch transformation manager, Roy Lewis.

Mark Tami said;

“I was really concerned when I heard of the proposed closures, particularly as I had previously been told that there were no plans for any further closures.

I am particularly concerned about elderly constituents who rely on these branches. Some of these people may not be able to get to branches in Wrexham, Deeside or Mold.

HSBC will be offering people assistance with their online banking features.

They also explained that some banking services will be available from the Caergwrle Post Office.

HSBC will also be offering assistance in how to utilise these services as well.

Cllr Healey, raised the issue that if the Caergwrle branch were to shut then the village would be without a cashpoint.

Mr Tami confirmed that HSBC would address this issue; “I had assurances that they would explore possibilities.

They will be looking at different options and assessing where would be best to put a cashpoint.”

To contact Mr Tami regarding this issue or to take HSBC up on their offers you can call his constituency office on 01244 836350
