Connah’s Quay Nomads have announced a bold new five-year strategy that includes exploring plans for a new 4,000-capacity stadium in Deeside.

The club hosted its strategic planning event, titled The Quay Vision, on Tuesday afternoon at Ty Calon, Queensferry.

The event, hosted by sports broadcaster Bryn Law, was attended by around 100 guests, including local business representatives, club partners, local authority officers, supporters, players and staff.

Discussions centred on the Football Association of Wales’ new “eight pillars of strategic growth” designed to strengthen the domestic football system across Wales.

A key highlight of the event was confirmation that Connah’s Quay Nomads are in early discussions with the Football Association of Wales and the Welsh Rugby Union to develop a 4,000-seater, multi-use stadium on the Ty Calon site.

If approved, the project would see the stadium shared between The Nomads and Shotton Steel RFC. The facility could also host international football and rugby fixtures.

Attendees were shown initial concept designs prepared by F3 Architects, illustrating what the future stadium might look like.

Following the presentation, guests walked a short distance from the Ty Calon building to the potential site of the new ground, located around 100 yards away, where Nomads Director of Football, Jay Catton, outlined the possible layout.

Further details on funding, planning and timescales for the proposed development are expected to be released as part of the club’s ongoing strategic planning work with its partners.
