Beverley Jones Wins Bronze at the Paralympic World Championship

Shotton`s Beverley Jones won the F37 Discus Bronze medal at the IPC Athletics World Championships in Lyon today.

Her second discus throw of 28.54 metres was enough to secure third place, equalling her Bronze medal podium finish at last Summers Paralympics in London.

Bev is a seasoned competitor with many major championships under her belt, she was introduced to Athletics in 1997 at Wrexham Sports Club for the Disabled.

In addition to Bev’s competitive experience of the Paralympic Games, other career highlights include the bronze medal that she won at the2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, when she represented Wales.

Throughout her time competing, Bev has combined sprinting with the Shot Put, but since Beijing she has concentrated on throwing.

A keen sportswoman, Bev also represents Wales in Cricket and also enjoys Rugby Union as a keen fan of the Ospreys.

Bev has cerebral palsy.
