Two men in court following Chester City centre serious assault charge

Two men have been charged in-connection with a serious assault in Chester city centre in the early hours of Friday morning.

Police launched an investigation after a man was seriously assaulted in Northgate Street in Chester shortly after 4.30am  on Friday 16 March,

Officers were called to reports of an altercation between three men, they found that a 33-year-old had been assaulted – two men were arrested.

The injured man was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital where he was in a stable condition.

Terrence Rust, aged 52, of no fixed address has been charged with section 18 wounding with intent and Keith Caffrey, 44, of no fixed address has been charged with section 18 grievous bodily harm.

Both will appear at Chester Crown Court this morning.
