This year, for Carers Week which runs from 12 June to 18 June, the Neuro Therapy Centre in Saltney is holding two events.

The ‘Who is Your Rock’ campaign leading up to and throughout Carers week and a Carers Candlelit Supper & Song on Friday 16th June.

Who is Your Rock? is a campaign to raise awareness of Carers week, the Neuro Therapy Centre is asking people to paint a rock and bring it into the Centre.

The idea is for anyone and everyone to get involved with painting a rock (pebble) in recognition of their ‘rock’ – i.e. someone who offers them support, helps them or cares for them. For members who attend the Neuro Therapy Centre it is a chance to say “Thank you”, but in the wider community it is about initiating conversations about how we can support each other and about showing gratitude to those who support us.

The painted rocks will be photographed and used on social media, but will also be displayed in the Centre coffee lounge and given as gifts of thanks to those in the caring role.

This is a great opportunity to recognise people who are so often heroes and heroines in the lives of people living with chronic conditions and disabilities. We want to acknowledge the wonderful job they do whilst also recognising that they are individuals with needs of their own.

There will be painting in The Centre, but those that cannot get into the Centre can paint one and send a picture to melanie@neurotherapycentre.org, or post it on Twitter or Facebook using the hashtag #rockNTC

On Saturday 20th May Hobbycraft very kindly donated the use of their craft room and provided craft materials including paint for decorating rocks and B&Q have donated a huge bag of pebbles.

Tickets are £10 and are available at the Neuro Therapy Centre.

Jane Johnston-Cree, Centre Manager of the Neuro Therapy Centre says “Carers Week is about recognising the role of the Carer, highlighting the difficulties they face and how important it is. This year our Who is your Rock? campaign and Carers Candlelit Supper and Song offers the opportunity to come together and thank Carers for all they do.”
