Toybox Nursery has been awarded with the Preliminary Stage certificate and the Nutrition and Oral Health certificate.

2012 saw the launch of a new national scheme to promote health and wellbeing in preschool settings in Flintshire. The Healthy and Sustainable Pre-School Scheme has been developed as an extension of the well-established and successful Welsh Network of Healthy Schools. It is funded by the Welsh government and managed by Public Health Wales.

The HSPSS has been rolled out across Wales and has set criteria that are parallel to the Welsh National Healthy School Scheme. It covers a wide range of health issues including, Nutrition and Oral Health, Physical Activity/Active Play, Mental and Emotional Health, Wellbeing and Relationships, Environment, Safety, Hygiene and Workplace Health and Wellbeing.

Nursery Manager, Ann Johnson said: “Toybox Nursery is very excited to be one of the first nurseries within Flintshire to receive two certificates towards the Health and Sustainable Pre-School Scheme.

“Our intention is to develop and communicate a positive ethos which will promote respect towards all, as well as a positive approach to health, the environment and the community.”
