The Tour of Britain comes to Flintshire on Wednesday

The 2013 Tour of Britain, the multi stage world class cycle race comes to Flintshire on Wednesday.

The race begins on 15 September in the Scottish Borders and Olympic champion Bradley Wiggins, 33, will lead Team Sky, while 2011 world road race champion Mark Cavendish will race for his Omega Pharma Quick-Step team.

There are eight stages in this year’s race, taking the riders to Peebles, Cumbria, Knowsley, Stoke-on-Trent, Wales, Devon and Surrey before the finish at Whitehall in London on 22 September.

The Tour arrives in Flintshire on Wednesday, 18 September as the riders race between Stoke-on-Trent and Llanberis in Snowdonia on Stage 4 of the Tour.

It is expected the race leaders will arrive in Flintshire at Cefn-y-Bedd between 13.00 and 13.10.

The route then follows the Wrexham Road (A541) through to Abermorddu traffic lights and onto Hawarden Road (A550), rejoining the A541 in Caergwrle via Castle Street.

The route then carries on along the A541 through Pontblyddyn then following the Wrexham Road (B5444) onto the outskirts of Mold and then along the A494 up to Gwernymynydd with the Tour crossing into Denbighshire at Cadole between 13:18 and 13:46.
