Police closed part of Aston Road close to the Asda supermarket in Queensferry late on Friday night after a car left the road and hit a lamp post.

The driver of a silver Ford focus appears to have failed to make the right turn via the road choosing instead to negotiate a 2o metres shortcut across grass , it ended up with the car smashing into a lamp post, completely destroying it.

The car which had a badly damaged front end was driven away on a car transport at around 12.30am.

One roads maintenance worker who was on hand to clear the broken lamp post seemed slightly baffled by the route the driver took.

Its not known what the circumstances are around the crash or if anyone was injured or arrested.

Given the direction in which the car travelled one onlooker speculated the driver may have been in a hurry to get away from ‘somebody’ or may have been driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs however, its worth noting no street lights are actually working on this stretch of road. since the major roadworks took place on Queensferry roundabout.

More if we get it….[/vc_column_text][mp_carousel_1 carousel_images=”38500,38501,38502,38503″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
