Flint Bridge reopens following earlier incident

Team paged by Holyhead CGOC to assist North Wales Police / Heddlu Gogledd Cymru to reports of a despondent person on the Flintshire bridge, Connah’s Quay.

On scene OIC liaised with Police to ascertain further details of person, Flint R.N.L.I Lifeboat Station requested to launch and standby, Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team also tasked to assist with casualty care should this have been needed.

Negotiators successfully placed person in their care and CGOC happy for all units to stand down and return to prospective stations.

Also on scene Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust.

Police have reopened Flint Bridge following what they called an ‘ongoing incident’

The nature of the incident is unclear North Wales Police initially posted a message on twitter at 9.36pm saying:

‘A548 Flint bridge/New bridge currently closed due to an ongoing incident. Please avoid & find alternative route. Thank you’

Police tweeted a further update at 10.20pm saying the bridge has now been reopened.

The road to Flint Bridge from Oakenholt was closed for a time and traffic was stopped from travelling past the Weighbridge Road roundabout leading to the bridge from the Deeside Industrial Park side.

All roads are now back open.

RNLI Flint lifeboat crew have also been called out this evening, it’s believed they were be assisting police with the incident.
