A dispersal order will be in place this weekend in Saltney following recent reports of anti-social behaviour and damage in the town.

Police say in recent weeks there have been incidents of drinking and anti-social behaviour involving local youths in Saltney.

Following recent information to the police dispersal authority has been granted for a designated area around Salisbury Avenue, Park Avenue, the Recreation park and alleyway from High Street to Salisbury Avenue.

The order will be in force from 7.00pm on Friday 12th August, all day Saturday and during Sunday when the town’s first carnival in years will be held at Saltney Town Football Club.

The order will cease at 6.59pm on Sunday evening.

Dispersal authority will give police power to force individuals deemed to be causing problems, to leave the specified area, if they return during the set time period they will be arrested and taken into custody.

Commenting on the dispersal order Veronica Gay, Town Councillor for Saltney Stonebridge Ward said:

“This really is good news for Saltney residents as they have suffered antisocial activities for far too long and really needs this strong message that enough is enough – will be great to see police in action in Saltney making sure the message is seen, heard and understood by the culprits.”
