Shotton man jailed for 11 years after being found guilty of 19 serious sexual offences

A 48 year old man from Deeside has been found guilty of 19 serious sexual offences committed in the Flintshire areas between 1992 and 2004.

Andrew Kendrick of Clwyd Street, Shotton denied the 19 charges of indecent assault, indecency with a child and an illegal sex act however, a jury at Mold Crown Court found him guilty of all offences and he was jailed for 11 years, he was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.

The court heard how Kendrick had groomed his victims from a young age, and on occasions had given one victim alcohol to assist compliance.

Judge Niclas Parry said Kendrick had shown no remorse and had forced his victims to relive their ordeals in public, the Police praised the great strength of character of the victims for coming forward.

Detective Inspector Kelly Isaacs from the North Wales Police Amethyst Team said

“I hope this sentence goes some way to reassure the victims who demonstrated great strength of character in coming forward, standing up to the perpetrator and ensuring that justice was served”.

DI Isaacs added

“It is important to reassure victims that North Wales Police will provide the appropriate specialist support to assist victims through every stage of an investigation and throughout any subsequent court proceedings. North Wales Police takes matters of this nature very seriously and so it is reassuring to see this reflected in the sentence passed out”
