Gwernaffield: Police given further 36 hours to question murder suspect

Police have been given a further 36 hours to question a 47 year old man following his arrest on suspicion murder.

He was arrested after the body of a 45 year old woman at an address in Gwernaffield, Mold, Flintshire.

Officers  were called  to an  address in High Park, Gwernaffield, Mold in the early hours on Sunday 14 September 2014 where the body of a local woman was found.

The BBC report the woman’s name is Karen Catherall

Detective Inspector Mark Hughes said;

“A full investigation is underway and the family of the deceased woman are being supported.

“We are appealing for anyone with information, which may assist the investigation, to call us 101.

The North East Wales Coroner has been informed.


Gwernaffield is a village and local government community in Flintshire, Wales. It lies about three miles west of Mold on the eastern side of the Clwydian Range. The community has an area of 7.53 km² and is bordered by the River Alyn on three sides. Wikipedia
