Karen Catherall: Man in court today following murder charge

A 47 year old year old man arrested by Police at the weekend has been charged with the Murder of Karen Catherall.

North Wales Police said: Darren John Jeffreys, 47, of Pwll Glas in Mold, had been charged with the murder of Karen Catherall.

He was refused bail

Jeffreys, 47, will appear in magistrates at Wrexham today, Wednesday 17th September.

Officers  were called to an address in High Park, Gwernaffield, Mold in the early hours on Sunday 14 September 2014 where the body of a local woman was found.

Jeffreys was arrested soon after the discovery of the victims body , Police were given a further 36 hours to question him on Monday.

The Family of Karen have paid tribute to her saying: 

“We are all devastated and heartbroken by the tragic and sudden death of our beloved Karen. She was a kind hearted and loving mother, daughter, sister, aunty and friend to many.

“Karen was full of life, always laughing and there was never a dull moment when she was near. Karen will be sorely missed and will remain forever in our hearts.”

The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time for them.

Coroner, John Gittins adjourned the inquest into Ms Catherall’s death on Monday, Karen died from “mechanical asphyxia” and a “blunt force head injury” a post mortem concluded.

 


Gwernaffield is a village and local government community in Flintshire, Wales. It lies about three miles west of Mold on the eastern side of the Clwydian Range. The community has an area of 7.53 km² and is bordered by the River Alyn on three sides. Wikipedia
