North Wales’ pubs and clubs are traditionally busy over the summer, but this weekend sees a number of events and festivals including Wakestock at Abersoch, the International Eisteddfod at Llangollen,  the Under the Arches music event at  the  Pontcysyllte  Aqueduct , a Wrexham v Swansea under 21’s football  match  in Rhyl  and the World Cup final on TV.

As part of North Wales Police’s Summer Safety campaign, officers will be out   helping to make sure people keep their cool and enjoy themselves safely.

Assistant Chief Constable Richard Debicki said:

“We want people to have fun, but to also be sensible and to look after themselves and those that they’re with.

“Alcohol in excess puts people in vulnerable situations, making them more likely to become a victim. Peoples’ behaviour and mood can also change when they become very drunk, leading to aggression and anti-social behaviour, which is unacceptable to those around them.

“Our officers and PCSOs will be stepping up patrols in our town and village centres to make sure that we are visible and there for our communities. These are local officers who work in local communities to keep the area safe. This will help in tackling any anti-social behaviour and providing reassurance.

“North Wales is a safe place and we are working hard to keep it that way, in order to reduce crime and antisocial behaviour even further.”
