The DanceBlast project was split into two programmes, one in spring that showcased work during a live presentation at Artsfest earlier in the year with the second taking place this autumn.

Dance pieces from both programmes were filmed by professional film-makers, Uma O’Neil and Pawan Mather and set to the vibrant music of composer, Ynyr Llwyd.

The initiative was coordinated by the Arts, Culture and Events Team at Flintshire County Council with the help of professional dance teachers from New Dance, the community dance development organisation for Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham.

US Unltd, Bagillt Youth Club, Learning Centre Shotton, Melrose Day Centre, Gwynedd School’s Ballet Group and Merllyn School’s Starburst Group were the six groups involved in the latest part of the project that was supported by funding from Arts Council of Wales.

Councillor Carolyn Thomas, Chair of Flintshire County Council attended the event and later commented:

“It was a great idea to make the dance project into a film to share with everyone. It showed all age groups and abilities from early years to older people culminating in thought provoking footage. Everyone involved worked really hard and should be very proud of what they have achieved.”
