Police have made their first arrests during the Christmas Anti Drink and Drug Drive Campaign.

Shortly after 5pm yesterday a man was arrested near the Mold area after failing a roadside breath test.

The 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving following a three-vehicle collision on the A494 in Llanferres.

An ambulance was called however, nobody was injured. The man currently remains in police custody.

A 31-year-old man was arrested just before 2am today on Bellevue Road in Wrexham after he failed the roadside drugs swipe test.

He has since been released on police bail pending further test results.

Inspector Alun Davies said:

“Anyone who is considering driving whilst under the influence of drink or drugs should know that we will be out and about waiting.

“North Wales Police are fully committed to help make the roads safer for all and will continue to target those who endanger their own lives and the lives of others.”

If you suspect someone is driving while unfit to do so, please report it immediately to police on 101 (or 999 if they are posing imminent danger) or phone it through anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
