Olly Murs Gig Wrexham – Road closures, diversions & park and ride info

Concert goers, residents and motorists are being reminded of road closures and diversions around the Racecourse Stadium ahead of tomorrow’s Olly Murs gig.

The ‘Troublemaker’ singer will take to the Racecourse stage on Saturday 24th June as part of his UK-wide summer tour. He will be joined by fellow X Factor star Louisa Johnson.

The event will be hosted by Wrexham AFC, alongside promoters and partners LHG Live and Orchard Entertainment.

More than 12,000 fans are expected for the concert.

Traffic plans drawn up by the council and concert organisers mean:

[icon name=”angle-double-right” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] Mold Road will be one-way out of town from 3pm with all inbound traffic using alternative and diverted routes into town. The road will be one-way between the B&Q roundabout and Station Approach.

[icon name=”angle-double-right” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] Signs will be in place to direct concert-goers to appropriate car parks or the Park and Ride facility.

[icon name=”angle-double-right” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] A Park and Ride service will also be made available at the Council’s Ruthin Road offices from 4pm until midnight, also at a cost of £5 per car. Park and Ride users, coaches and drop offs will be directed off the A483 at junction 4, Ruthin Road.

[icon name=”angle-double-right” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] Coaches, taxis and ‘drop offs’ will be directed through the town, to a drop off zone on Mold Road, near the stadium.

[icon name=”angle-double-right” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] From 9.45pm, Stansty Road will be closed in both directions from its junction with Crispin Lane, through to Rhosddu Road, whilst the stadium is emptying.

Residents will also have to access the roads opposite the stadium via the town centre. Crispin Lane will be closed at the access to the rear of the stadium.

There will be a full closure of the Mold Road from 9.45pm while the stadium is emptying.

North Wales Police are also advising concertgoers that armed officers will also be at the Racecourse to provide additional reassurance.

Chief Inspector Simon Barrasford said: “With such large numbers of people coming to town it is important that concert goers, motorists, shoppers and residents are aware of the traffic arrangements drawn up by the organisers and the council to avoid congestion and disruption.”
