Hawarden Bridge, over the River Dee near Shotton, will be closed to cyclists and walkers for essential maintenance between 09:00 and 15:00 on Tuesday 13th December.

This bridge, which connects the North Wales Coast Route and the Chester Greenway Railway Path on National Cycle Route 5 needs to have a number of deck boards replaced to keep path users safe and comfortable say Sustrans Cymru the charity charged with maintaining the path.

Sustrans say they have organised for the work to take place outside of busy commuting times to avoid inconveniencing the majority path users.

There is also an alternative crossing at the Blue Bridge near Queensferry.
