Ambulance Response Times in Flintshire Hit New Low – 347 life threatening calls miss 8 minute target time.

Latest Ambulance service performance figures for December show Flintshire missing the 8 minute target response time for life threatening calls 347 times.

Today`s figures released by the Welsh Government represent the worst performance for the Ambulance service in Flintshire since the 8 minute target time data was reclassified in 2011

December saw just 48% of Ambulances in the county arrive on the scene of what are classed ‘category A’ incidents, those deemed to be life threatening, 320 out of the 667 category A calls received an emergency response within the 8 minutes of the 65% target time set by NHS Wales, an decrease on November figures by 9.2% and 4.7% worse than December 2012.

Neighbouring Wrexham 72% and Conwy  71.8%  and Denbighshire 66.7% were the top performers in Wales for December 2013.

Speaking to Deeside.com Alyn and Deeside MP Mark Tami said:

“These figures are clearly disappointing and we need to improve them.”

“The tragic case in the media (Fred Pring from Moldshocked and saddened everybody and highlighted the importance of quick response times.”

“Work now has to be done to restore public confidence in the Ambulance Service and support the brave men and women who tirelessly to save people’s lives”
