With only six days notched up on the January calendar so far this year, politicians are already starting to get a bit ‘noisy’ with regards to the 2015 General Election.

The next General Election will of course be the most ‘digitally connected’ election to date, that`s kind of obvious as more and more of us use social media, its not going to go away!

Our very own Mark Tami, Labour MP for Alyn and Deeside has now joined Twitter in the last day or so, even though he told Deeside.com he was not a great fan.

Its a wise move.

MP`s will need to work harder than ever to re engage locally with electors, and lets face it many of us have switched off from UK politics simply due to the tedious blame game that is played out across the dispatch box in the Westminster ‘bubble’.

Deeside historically has been seen as a bit of a ‘banker’ for labour in terms of safe seat, however that maybe put to the test in 2015 particularly with the ‘younger vote’ which may not change an overall result this time around, but it would be reflective of future trends where the individual is more relevant than party.

Many labour votes come from generations of the same families, here`s the challenge though, with the lines between the parties becoming more and more blurred, it leaves the door open for a digital savvy young pretender to come and disrupt the cosy political ecosystem here in Deeside.

In Laura Knightly the Tories may just have found the answer, the conservative party candidate for Deeside has the perfect opportunity to appeal to an age group who have been ‘born digital’  and may not be swayed by political ideologies or allegiances opting to connect with individuals rather than parties.

However there are those of course who remain unconvinced much will change in Deeside.

Even so, having Mr Tami on twitter is a welcome addition and gives us all an opportunity to understand the role he has in the community and at Westminster.
