Traffic clears on A55 following earlier collision near Northop.

Update: Traffic Wales say all vehicles have been recovered and traffic is clearing following an earlier collision on the A55 near Northop.

Update: It looks like one lane may have reopened but traffic is backing up around three miles to Ewloe. 

Latest traffic report states:

“One lane closed and stationary traffic due to debris on road and accident, single vehicle involved on A55 North Wales Expressway Westbound from J34 A494 (Ewloe) to J33 A5119 Northop Road (Northop). Congestion to 3 miles. Lane two (of two) is closed after a car has spun out of control. Traffic is advised to take extra care in the adverse weather.”

Earlier Report: Delays are beginning to form on the westbound carriageway of the A55 near Northop following a collision.

Traffic Wales has said both westbound lanes are currently closed and ‘major congestion’ is building.

A picture posted on social media shows at least one car facing the wrong way next to the central reservation with debris strewn across both lanes. 

Latest traffic report states:

“Road blocked and stationary traffic due to debris on road and accident, single vehicle involved on A55 North Wales Expressway Westbound from J34 A494 (Ewloe) to J33 A5119 Northop Road (Northop). A car has spun. Traffic is advised to take extra care in the adverse weather.“
