A further ten Conference matches in England and one Women’s super league game were said to ‘victims of betting fraud’ and publicly implicated by the report by an organisation called Federbet

The gap Connahs Quay’s match away at Bala on 13th Decemebr 2013 in which they lost 7-0, is the match Federbet claim was ‘fixed’ as was the Port Talbot’s match the following day at home to Carmarthen.

Federbet, is a Belgium based organisation of top European casino owners and bookmakers, part of their operation is to identify match fixing and to work to eliminate it.

Federbet uses its betting database to track the flow of bets on specific events, unusual betting patterns highlights potential match fixing.

There were 110 matches last season in Europe which Federbet claim to have been ‘fixed’, while there were suspicions about a further 350.

They included matches Italy, France Greece, as well as many eastern European countries.

Federbet general secretary Francesco Baranca told Tuesday’s press conference at the European parliament

“Every day all around the world there is an attempt at match-fixing, and this virus is getting bigger and bigger, authorities were not doing enough to combat match fixing.”

The report was criticised on twitter last night for lacking context, methodology and accuracy, infact the report has gap Connahs Quay as losing 6-0 in the afore mentioned match however they lost by 7 goals to nil, given the EU parliament appear to be supporting Federbet the claims are being taking seriously in some quarters.

A spokesperson for gap Connah’s Quay said:

“We read with absolute amazement the claims that a match involving gap Connah’s Quay Nomads and Bala Town was subject to a match fixing investigation. We deny all knowledge of any allegations and welcome any further information that justifies such a claim
