Deeside based firefighters joined colleagues from Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service early this morning following reports of a fire at a Chester city centre department store.

Fire crews from Chester, one from Powey Lane, two from Ellesmere Port and Deeside were called to Browns department store on Eastgate Street just after 5.20am this morning, Friday December 14.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said:

“On arrival at the scene the team found that there was a small fire in the basement area involving a washing machine.

Two firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, use one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.
