Triumph Actuation Systems-UK & IOM based in Deeside, has entered into a long-term agreement with Airbus to continue manufacturing its landing gear actuation systems for the A320ceo and A320neo jets.

Production of the actuation systems including: actuators; valves; and uplocks, will be performed at Triumph Group’s facility on Deeside Industrial Park, with the aftermarket support being provided from the Staverton, Gloucestershire facility.

Daniel J. Crowley, Triumph’s President and Chief Executive Officer, said,

“This long term agreement represents an exciting new chapter in our strategic partnership with Airbus and reflects the value customers place on our experience, expertise and ability to provide higher-value added solutions.

“Our agreement with Airbus demonstrates our shared commitment to performance and service excellence. We are intently focused on delivering on our customer commitments, driving organic growth and generating predictable profitability.”

In January, 2016, the Lufthansa Group, Airbus’ largest airline customer and operator, took delivery of the first A320neo, the world’s best-selling and most fuel efficient single aisle aircraft.

With lower fuel consumption and consequently lower CO2 emissions, the A320neo is also considerably quieter than its predecessors. As a result, Lufthansa has ordered a total of 116 A320neo aircraft.

The Triumph Group headquarters in Berwyn, Pennsylvania is a global leader in aerospace system, the company created 60 highly skilled jobs in Deeside with a £5m to expansion project.

The investment in Deeside was backed by £392,000 business finance from the Welsh Government.

As well as supplying the A320 program the Deeside site manufactures hydraulic actuation systems  for the Airbus A380.
