Appeal for witnesses following a serious collision in Cheshire

Officers investigating a serious collision in Elton are urging witnesses to come forward.

At 8.42pm on Saturday 24 November a collision took place in Meadowview between a black Mercedes Estate and a red Range Rover.

Sadly the passenger of the Mercedes, a 37-year-old local woman, was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital (COCH) by ambulance where she sadly died. Next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

The driver of the Mercedes made off in an unknown direction before police arrived at the scene.

The driver of the Range Rover, a 56-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries.

Detective Chief Inspector Mike Evans said: “The investigation into the collision is currently in its early stages and we are following a number of lines of enquiry to find the driver of the Mercedes.

“I want to take this opportunity to appeal directly to the driver to get in touch and contact officers immediately.

“I am also keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the Mercedes driving around Elton and the surrounding areas. If you have any information – no matter how small – please call 101.”
