Rail improvements aimed at enhancing travel between North Wales and Cardiff will see a Flintshire road closed for nearly a month.

Network Rail has written to Alyn and Deeside AM Carl Sargeant about its North South Wales Journey Improvement project, which aims to reduce journey times to the Welsh capital via Wrexham.

Work to upgrade level crossings will begin this month, meaning temporary closures of some roads where crossings are located will need to be put in place.

In Flintshire, Green Lane in Saltney will be closed from midnight on Saturday, February 14 until 8am on Monday, March 9.

Carl said:

“While this may be an inconvenience to people in the local area, safety is of paramount importance while Network Rail carry out their work and I appreciate their efforts to keep everyone informed.

“They will also be holding a drop-in event for people living in the Saltney area to find out more about the project.”

Members of the Network Rail project team will be at Saltney Community Centre on Thursday, March 5, between 3pm and 7pm to answer questions.
