The incident occurred at 12.29 when the tide was flooding, the lifeboat launched immediately from Flint station and drew alongside the casualties who were now in the water clinging onto the semi submerged boat.

The three casualties were taken on board the lifeboat and onto the shore where they were handed over to a waiting ambulance, two females were taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital believed to be suffering for hypothermia.

Alan Forrester volunteer lifeboat operations manager at Flint said

‘I really can’t praise the crew enough, they were fantastic, conditions in the river were difficult, and they did a terrific job, the training just kicked in, as soon as the boat returned to shore with the casualties, our shore crew were waiting with blankets and hot drinks.
