The Welsh Government has awarded Flintshire County Council £1.3m for a regeneration programme in Deeside.

Some of the £1.3m, which has come from the ‘Vibrant and Viable Places’ programme, will be used for energy efficiency measures to council-owned homes.

Whilst money will be used to improve the cycle network in Deeside.

The Vibrant and Viable Places programme is a Welsh Government flagship programme for regeneration and the Council received just over £6m for an ambitious programme of regeneration in Deeside over three years.

The programme will enhance the core of Deeside and complement the major economic growth underway through the Enterprise Zone where 7,000 new jobs are forecast to be created.

Cllr. Derek Butler, Portfolio Holder for Economic Development, said

“This is a welcome announcement and only possible because of the good progress the Council is making in delivering the Vibrant and Viable Places programme in Deeside. Deeside is a major economic hub for North Wales and North West England and this programme is an important element in growing the prosperity of the region.”
